Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Job Responsibilities:

* CNC Programmer will be responsible for writing and revising CNC programs for various Swiss style lathes including Citizens, Stars and Deco's using Parts Maker programming software. In addition, Robo Drills an NHX Mills using Esprit programming software.
* Candidate must have working knowledge (5 years minimum) of swiss style machining, tooling, material and methods capable of producing small precision and tight tolerance parts for aerospace or medical fields.
* Must be proficient in blue print reading and capable of creating programs from 2 dimensional and or 3 dimensional models.
* Must be able design and create cutting tool drawings, tooling layouts and instructions for the purpose of creating machine programs and processes for small precision components of various materials.
* 2nd shift

Duties Include:

* Creating CNC milling and turning programs for variety of machines including Robo Drills, Citizens, Stars, Deco and Mori Seiki using a combination of long hand and CAM software.
* Parts Maker software experience a plus.
* Reading and understanding CNC code to make manual alterations to existing programs.
* Reading and understanding technical drawings for the creation of CNC programs.
* Selecting proper speeds and feeds based on part design specifications, materials and the cutting tools selected.
* Troubleshooting and editing programs of various machine types including Star, Citizen and Deco.
* Evaluating programs and determine if improvements can be made to the code to improve efficiency and resolve quality issues.
* Communicating with Engineers and Machinist to resolve production issues and make changes in programs as necessary.
* The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the following: Selection of machine cutting tools and material removal methods based on blue print requirements to produce small precision components.
* Read and understand technical drawings for the creation of CNC programs.
* Capable of trouble shooting and editing programs of various machine types including Star, Citizen and Deco. E
* xperience and working knowledge of calculating speeds and feeds for various materials.
* Working knowledge of various inspection equipment and methods including GD&T.
* Auto Cad and Solid Works experience.
* Knowledge of various tool holders, boring bars, inserts for CNC Swiss work centers.
* Knowledge of various cutting tools, materials and metal removable methods for the production of Aero Space components.
* Proven knowledge of High School math including geometry and trigonometry.
* Able to work overtime and weekends as required.
* 5 years minimum experience in machining or production environments setting up and operating swiss style machines for the manufacturing of small electronic connectors.
