Purpose of Job
We are currently seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer for our offices in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX or 100% Remote Work Environment.
Please note: The ideal Infrastructure Engineer candidate applies an automation mindset to solving problems. You will have the opportunity to implement and maintain an efficient and secure enterprise infrastructure pipeline that offers elastic, uninterrupted private cloud capacity for our customers. As part of an agile team, your skill will be empowered to addresses the development of required Cloud patterns and Software Defined Infrastructure covering a broad range of solutions to include: compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, machine learning, and security.
Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining and supporting infrastructure and individual system components that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and controlled.

Tasks
* Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
* Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
* Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
* Designs scalable infrastructure with minimal oversight, implements system change with consistency and autonomy, automates service delivery and maintenance tasks, and builds monitoring and tooling for systems.
* Resolves complex production issues with independence by troubleshooting complex systems independently
* Analyzes complex outages in order to identify opportunities
* Experiments with new patterns and technologies
* Understands and consistently exercises engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
* Understands the customer and identifies solutions and ideas for the customer with some assistance
* Evaluates potential solutions with some oversight
* May begin mentoring junior engineers.
Minimum Education/Experience requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in related field of study
OR
Certification from an approved technical field of study,
OR
4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required
* 4+ years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s)

Preferred Education/Experience:
* Moderate experience in GoLang, Java or Python. Also, strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and design principles
* Moderate experience in REST API development leveraging Docker and container platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift for application deployments
* Moderate experience with application security using PKI, JWT, OAuth, Kerberos and other security technologies for securing APIs and/or integrations with different systems
* Moderate experience developing against traditional RDBMS, NoSQL and object storage solutions
* Moderate experience in Linux command line and tooling
* Knowledge or moderate experience in CI/CD pipeline development using tools like Jenkins or GitLab
* Knowledge or moderate experience in source code management and semantic versioning (SMVR) using Git, GitHub or GitLab
* Knowledge or moderate experience with a growing maturity in automation tools like Hashicorp Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and/or Chef
* Knowledge or moderate experience with logging and monitoring technologies such as ELK, Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus
* Knowledge or moderate experience building web applications using frameworks like Angular2/ReactJS
Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $88,200 - $158,900.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
