Responsibilities

Provides professional, competent, safe, appropriate direct patient care in the collection of blood samples from patients age newborn and older; management of all documentation related to blood collection, management of communication between the Laboratory and ancillary and off campus sites, both verbal and hardcopy documents, manages the registration process and transfer of information for outpatient and off campus. Maintains a professional, cooperative interaction with all hospital departments, medical staff, and the public in keeping with the mission and philosophy of Manatee Memorial Hospital. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for the coordination and dispersing of work to the Senior Phlebotomist. Also assists in handling any customer service and/or specimen or order related issues and coordinating timely redraws. Other items include additional and/or advanced training of staff. Will facilitate any replacement of call offs or rescheduling due to issues of tardiness or any other staffing needs or early releases. Responsible for Q reports, Midas, supplies, employee incident reporting and any other details related to being the extension of the Support Services Supervisor. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all time and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate Degree preferred)

Excellent communication skills

Phlebotomy Certified required

Able to work variable hours.

Computer skills and EMR systems

Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
