Cardiovascular Progressive Care at HCA Mission Hospital

Registered Nurse - Full-Time - Nights

The mission of the CV Progressive Care unit at Mission Hospital is to provide individualized, quality nursing care to patients with cardiac disease which exceeds patient expectations and includes patients and their families in the care planning process. This is a 40 bed unit, which specializes in intermediate care and treatment of cardiac disease and post-operative patient care.

Patient population:

* Cardiology patients with a variety of diagnoses including CAD, MI, angina, heart failure, and arrhythmias.

* Patients who have undergone open heart surgery, lung surgery, vascular surgery, Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), Left Ventricular Assist Device implantation (LVAD), heart catheterization/angioplasty, stents, and placement of defibrillators and pacemakers.

* Patients on various cardiac-specific medication drips

Nursing on CV Progressive Care:

* Multidisciplinary, Team-Based Care model approach to care

* Opportunities to care for a variety of patients with cardiac disease

* Opportunities to build exceptional foundational experience in caring for pre/post cardiac surgery patients with a higher level of acuity, which may lend to future skills pathways to ICUs or other nursing specialties

* Specialized training in the care of LVAD patients

* CSU-ALS training routinely offered (specialized training for cardiac surgery patients)

Registered Nurse at Mission Hospital:

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program within 6 months AND obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire date into RN position. Previous signed BSN commitment letter OR grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.

Required License or Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider.

Preferred License or Certifications: National Certification in area of specialty.

Required Experience: One-year hospital nursing experience in an acute setting is the base requirement for the Registered Nurse role. Please see "Preferred Experience" for department-specific criteria sought.

Preferred Experience: Previous Cardiac, Cardiovascular PCU or other PCU experience preferred, will consider other Step Down and Progressive Care experience. May also consider a solid MedSurg base of experience with tele and Emergency Department backgrounds.
