Department Overview

This position is located within the Gas Standards Engineering department supporting the company's Gas Operations. Gas Operations activities include engineering, construction, maintenance and safe operation of approximately 5,700 miles of gas transmission pipelines and 42,000 miles of gas distribution pipelines serving 4.4 million gas customers located throughout northern and central California.

Position Summary:

The Work Methods & Procedures Specialist may focus in one of several areas of expertise provided by the operations support department for their respective line of business including but not limited to: Work Methods & Procedures, Technical Support (to field maintenance and construction crews), Quality Control, Human Error Analysis & Investigation, and/or Training. Incumbents apply technical knowledge to field support sessions, projects, audits, and activities that ensure improved safety, reliability and efficiency of field maintenance and construction processes. In addition to any specialized support focus, the incumbent develops, designs, and maintains bulletins, manuals, job aids and tailboards regarding gas standards, work methods and work procedures. Incumbents may also be assigned to teams responsible for technical documentation, training development and delivery, QA and QC, human performance reporting and initiatives, equipment failure investigations, field support for construction and maintenance including changes to maintenance programs, storm and emergency response activities, and/or involvement in special projects including the implementation of business or software systems in the field.

Travel varies per assignment and assignment location.

Qualifications-

Minimum:

* High School Diploma or GED
* Total 7 years of gas industry experience
* 5 years of Work Methods and Procedures Specialist experience.
* Leadership abilities, and team development skills
* Coaching abilities
* Superior problem-solving skills
* Ability to build relationships with all levels of incumbents
* Expert level communication skills
* Travel Availability (Travel varies per assignment and assignment location)

Desired:

* AA Degree
* Guidance Document Author Training (CORP-0521)
* Root Cause Analysis certification or other applicable certification.
* 2+ years of Microsoft Suite experience
* Knowledge of PG&E's Gas Utility requirements, and documents.
* 20 years of gas operations experience

Responsibilities:

* Coaches and develops other Technical Specialists.
* Leads team for high level initiatives reporting to steering teams.
* Provides technical expertise, historical perspective, industry standard, and regulation code requirements to improve safety, productivity, and material performance.
* Performs advanced process mapping techniques with less tenured employees.
* Leads meetings with assigned LOB stakeholders.
* Handles high level written work methods development with attention to deep dive analysis of work methods best practices.
* May lead, support or review investigations of human factor related events that occur in the electric system.
* May develop or lead QC and QA programs to ensure appropriate programs exist and effectively gauge results of procedural adherence and training programs.
* Relief Supervisor duties.
* Team Lead during project development.
