The Azure Cosmos DB PM team is a remote-first, data-driven product team that helps drive Cosmos DB. We are a team with a diverse set of skills from highly technical database knowledge, growth-hacking experimentation, developer experience, and enterprise-scale architecture. With PMs working both in Redmond and remotely world-wide, we prioritize inclusion, transparency, respect, and empathy in our team culture.

Azure Cosmos DB is Microsoft's globally distributed, multi-model database. Azure Cosmos DB was built from the ground up with global distribution, fine-grained multi-tenancy and horizontal scalability at its core. Cosmos DB started inside Microsoft as Project Florence in 2010, with a mission to build a database that is truly designed for the cloud.

Fast forward to today - Cosmos DB is one of the fasting growing services in Azure and is the de-facto database for the mission critical applications for both, Microsoft as well as, enterprises all around the world using Azure. In Cosmos DB, we are constantly looking to apply the best ideas from distributed systems, database, machine learning, information retrieval, networking, and security.

Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who:

* Are passionate about Product Management and feel comfortable in both the technical and business spaces of Product Management
* Are interested in Data, Analytics, Distributed Systems, and/or Developer Experiences problem spaces
* Are experienced in successfully engaging with customers in adopting new platform technologies
* Ability to work with engineering teams to design and deliver cross industry capabilities including big data & analytics
* Can use data driven techniques to identify pain/friction in the customer's journeys with Cosmos DB
* Will drive customer feedback and requirements back into our platform, effectively advocating in order to push our platform forward enabling customers to achieve more in our cloud.
* Have an execution focused mindset, ability to roll up your sleeves, working with various engineering, marketing, finance, legal, operations, and field teams to drive customer success

Basic Qualifications:

* 2+ years' experience in product or program management or similar areas
* Basic knowledge of how databases work and how they are used by developers.
* Ability to understand, work with, and create data driven approaches to understanding product usage.
* Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements, scenarios into products and services, ability to deliver results in an environment of ambiguity.
* Excellent communication skills, strong leadership and influencing skills.
* Ability to work independently in highly ambiguous environments, with both technical and business groups internally and externally.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in building and designing cloud-based architectures including big data analytics and cloud native applications, for example: Apache Spark
* Experience with Mongo DB, Apache Cassandra, Apache Gremlin, or other distributed NoSQL technologies
* BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experienceu202F
* Track record of delivering services and/or shipping products
* A structural, repeatable approach in solving complex problems, can communicate to senior decision makers in a clear, compelling way, and drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large organization.
* Stellar cross group collaboration, able to drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large organization and deliver results that depend on other divisions and external partners.
