In this position, you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment.

The Toxicology department consists of 4 sub departments: Toxicology, Biological Monitoring, Blood Lead and Mass Spectrometry. These have a combined volume of approximately 500,00 tests a month. Our toxicology tests are primarily focused on therapeutic drug monitoring, our biological monitoring tests focus on metal or chemical exposures and our mass spec department is our most rapidly growing area and encompasses testing from several disciplines from toxicology to endocrinology. The Toxicology department offers experience with many types of analytical instrumentation such as GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP/MS and LC/MS/MS as well as with automated and manual systems of sample preparation.

This position is in the Toxicology Reagent Manufacturing area. It will be responsible for preparing calibrators, quality control materials and reagents for use in the Toxicology department utilizing both manual and automated preparation protocols. The position will also be responsible for completing all required documentation, preparing and finalizing all necessary reports, and maintaining the inventory of all products generated via an interactive spreadsheet.

Responsibilities:

* Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
* Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
* Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
* Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
* Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
* Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
* Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors or unusual results
* Provide guidance to technical staff with the analysis and interpretation of final results
* Perform new test procedures and/or methods and provide feedback based on your findings
* Assist with training and orientation of new employees as needed
* Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
* Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
* Assist with processing of specimens when needed
* Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements

* BA/BS or equivalent (HEW) in Chemistry, Biology or related science. Must meet all local, state, and federal requirements for licensing.
* Minimum 4+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for Sr. Technologist level
* Previous experience with chromatographic data review, EP Evaluator and Excel software, volumetric pipettes and flasks, analytical balances, and/or Tecan Automated Liquid Handling system preferred.
* Demonstrated success in clinical testing technical proficiency and scientific knowledge
* Advanced knowledge and understanding of specific laboratory and/or department functions
* Ability to exercise judgement to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
* Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
* High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment
* Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
* Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
