Our Intelligent Software & Systems department is seeking a qualified Masters or PhD Spring / Summer intern to work on a research project involving game playing AI. You will be exposed to all aspects of software engineering and be part of a team developing next generation capabilities for distributed and mobile information systems of tomorrow.

What will you do?
You will contribute to a project sponsored by the US government and will work on a team with four other technical staff to design, develop, and prototype a suite of AI agents for a turn-based strategy game.

The applicant will be working daily with BBN researchers in a distributed team setting. Due to the pandemic, there is no expectation of relocation or in-person work, so excellent communication skills are essential. You will earn first-hand experience with researchers addressing challenges in AI, game theory, and reinforcement learning, and be a contributing member in a small, highly qualified and motivated research and development team. Among the assigned responsibilities will be design, development, and oversight of our AI Agent Gym in which we train, test, and advance the skills of the game-playing agents.

What will you need?
* Student pursuing a Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI or related technical field
* Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and/or C
* Strong software engineering skills, particularly utilizing tools such as git and the Atlassian suite
* Excellent communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to excel while working remotely

Additional Skills that would be AWESOME / BENEFICIAL
* Reinforcement learning experience
* Unity game framework knowledge
* Knowledge of game theory
