Job Description

J.P. Morgans Data & Analytics Sales team is formed of high-performing specialist salespeople and part of the Platform sales organization. The team are responsible for revenue generation across our best-in-class digital solutions, including our Fixed Income Index business, which we deliver to our institutional Client base.

J.P. Morgans Global Index Research is a market leader in fixed income indices within the Corporate and Investment bank, and is part of the award winning Global Research organization. The group is a leading provider of indices across fixed income with a market leading presence in Emerging Market (EM) and Developed Market (DM) Indices, accounting for over 95% of the market with over $700 billion in assets tracking the various EM index products. The Global Index Research analysts are viewed as thought leaders in the indexing lifecycle (from idea generation to launch) and liaise with Clients in all stages of their investment cycle. Overall, the index group is responsible for creating, managing and marketing J.P. Morgan proprietary indices and commercialization of research data for beta-access products (ETFs, structured products etc.). The group is also involved in collaborative research efforts with other J.P. Morgan research groups in producing thematic publications and marketing efforts around the underlying asset class (Emerging Markets, Global treasury markets, Corporates etc.). Our Clients are some of the worlds largest asset managers, insurance and pension firms as well as sovereign wealth funds.

This opportunity requires a motivated Salesperson to play a fundamental role in growing JPMs market leading Index Research business by acquiring new Clients, developing existing relationships, and helping to shape the commercial strategy by working closely with Clients in understanding their needs and industry trends.

Key functions of the role:

Play a lead role in the Client acquisition process from prospecting and networking, generation of new business pipeline and sales to ongoing Client relationship management. Source new sales opportunities via inbound leads and outbound meetings, calls and emails

Arranging and holding regular visits alongside our Index research specialists to pitch to existing and prospective Clients our latest index offering

Arrange and conduct regular relationship management and review meetings with existing Clients

Develop and maintain relationships with an expanding network of prospective index Clients

Research the Client base and to identify key players and decision makers in the index space (asset owners, consultants, influencers)

Support and educate our Institutional Sales teams on new offerings to the Index suite of products

Collaborate closely with the Index research team to understand product lifecycle and upcoming index and analytics launches

Work with wider Data and Analytics Sales colleagues to build a pipeline, to further develop opportunities, and to close deals across our digital solutions offering

Perform competitor analysis and keep up to date with benchmark industry trends (ESG, Climate, ETFs)

Facilitate workshops or seminars with our Clients (asset managers, asset owners, consultants) to understand their needs in order to help shape the Index Researchs team product roadmap

Assist with basic product Client issues and escalate to the index technical teams when necessary

Continued learning and development of the Index business and products to proficiently perform duties

Unlike other sales roles the learning curve for this team is demanding as it is diversified across 3 aspects: 1) product knowledge 2) Client familiarity across a varied Client base and 3) sales acumen. The ideal candidate has a strong intellectual curiosity, a high degree of organization and attention to detail, and the ability to perform well under high pressure situations with the appropriate degree of urgency.

Candidate Profile

5+ years of Index Sales Experience

Knowledge and experience of buy-side and 3rd party vendors is a must

Knowledge of Intellectual property licensing

Specific experience covering Asset Owner or ETF issuer Client base will be a big advantage

Strong established ability to cultivate relationships with Clients with strong influencing and inter-personal skills

Established ability to close a deal
