As an Architect - Sr. Software Engineer supporting NIAID, you will be trusted to design and work on microservices based data ecosytem that provides NIAID researchers the ability to find relevant data for understanding infectious diseases and a computational environment to glean insights into how to treat the disease outbreak.
. In this role, a typical day will include:
* Collaborating with NIAID to respond to emerging public health threats, while maintaining the capacity to quickly launch a research response to newly emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
* Lead a team of engineers developing and designing a distributed, scalable, production-grade microservices and cloud-native application
* Present and get approval of architectural designs and diagrams
* Lead a team of engineers, in collaboration with scientific subject matter experts, to develop, bring into production, and grow a data-ecosystem framework
* Design the software to create and support a FISMA Moderate secure system
* Your success will be measured through your successful interactions with all team members, and high communication with our NIAID clients and team to design and deliver a scientifically meaningful system.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in IT or computer science or related field
* 10 years of industry or strong academic experience
* Experience in architecting distributed, scalable, production-grade microservices and cloud-native applications.
* Four or more years' experience developing production applications in Python and/or Java.
* Experience scaling one or more SQL databases.
* Comfortable performance tuning/debugging within a Linux environment.
* Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts such as virtual machines, containers, orchestration (Kubernetes), networking, security, etc
Strongly preferred
* Experience presenting at conferences and/or workshops.
* Experience scaling one or more NoSQL databases.
* Preferred Experience interacting with biomedical researchers,
Public Trust clearance must be able to be obtained
