Responsibilities
Located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, Oak Plains Academy offers psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents ages 5-17, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues.
The Oak Plains Academy campus features a full-size gymnasium, separate academic building, and four dormitories. Our wooded campus provides an excellent opportunity for outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, softball and basketball.
Oak Pains in seeking a DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Position Summary:
Oversight of general daily operations of facility, including building sanitation and security, monitoring activities of supervisory, maintenance, and kitchen staff, and coordination of facility transportation. Will coordinate with facility teammates to ensure needs of the clients are addressed through both the program and community outreach.

Qualifications
Required Skill, Knowledge
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An individual must be able to perform their duties in a positive work mode and serve as a positive role model and influence for youth and peers.
Master's degree from an accredited university in Social Services, Health Care Administration, or related field. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in residential setting strongly preferred.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Health Care Administration, or related field with 5-10 years of progressive experience working with at-risk youth in a residential setting.
A valid state driver's license with appropriate endorsement.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Elementary use of computer spreadsheet programs. Strong financial acumen, ability to analyze budget and forecast needs and determine contributing factors to financially underperforming programs and make changes to increase performance to plan. Knowledge of Medicaid fee-for-service structure and contract compliance preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect, date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff.
Job Duties
Plans and supervises security operations and functions occurring at the facility.
Assists Case Managers and Therapists in liaison duties with families, legal system, educational system, medical providers, and community resources as needed.
Consults with the management team on issues regarding the daily program.
Conducts and participates in various meetings, including disciplinary committee, appeals board and employment board for group life section; supervises and participates in staff conferences and in-service training programs for facility.
Hire, supervise, and evaluate professional staff in the residential program; cultivate effective team operation through assigning, training, supervising, and evaluating staff and their work; makes recommendations on employment, retention, promotion, demotion, and other personnel actions.
