JOB SUMMARY:

Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) functions by conducting EHS project work and facilitating the implementation of departmental programs, policies, procedures and practices. This role will assist with the implementation and continued development of EHS compliance and injury prevention in the manufacturing operations.
This is an internship, not a full time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting the EHS Manager with:

* Coordinating shop implementation of all site environmental, health, safety and security programs.
* Implementation and focused application of SBD EHS road map elements.
* Providing EHS regulatory guidance in the manufacturing operation.
* Identifying and implementing EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
* Coordinating safety analysis, hazard identification and reduction activities, as well as analyzing EHS trends for implementation of proactive program development or corrective action.
* Coordinating EHS auditing and inspections.
* Coordinating safety committee functions.
* Looks beyond project scope and seeks potential alternatives to positively impact facility EHS.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Working towards a bachelors in EHS or related field.
* 3.0 GPA or higher
* Knowledge of EHS functions and program application in a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to interpret and apply OSHA general industry safety and health regulations.
* Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other systems as needed.
* Effective writing and communication skills.
* Ability to work well in a team-based, collaborative environment.
* Ability to influence and guide development while creating working relationships with all business functions.
