The Director, Global Communications for the company's Hospital & Specialty Care franchise will work in partnership with the research & development, commercial, public policy and investor relations organizations on the development and execution of integrated communications strategies and plans for the companys global Hospital and Specialty business, including HIV, antibiotics, CMV, and anesthesia/surgery.
Responsible for:
* Develop and drive communications strategies aligned with the overarching corporate and franchise priorities
* Create and execute comprehensive external communications programs in the United States and for global affiliates with a strong comprehension of the science, patient advocacy and the competitive landscape
* Strengthen awareness and activation among key audiences of our Companys leadership in infectious diseases through targeted content and channel strategies across traditional, social and digital platforms; and via media outreach programs, thought leader speaking opportunities, pipeline/research & development communications, and third-party engagement opportunities.
* Create campaigns and ongoing news flow to continually reinforce the value of antimicrobial innovation and the inline franchise among the public, scientific leaders, healthcare professionals, advocates and payers.
* Support external partnerships with key external professional and advocacy organizations and experts in support of business and corporate goals
* Monitor the environment through social listening tools and media monitoring to identify opportunities to insert franchise/infectious diseases leader positioning into social conversations while also identifying and potentially acting upon emerging issues.
* Serve as the primary communications counselor to the brand marketing and other cross-divisional teams; to advise on key communications and business issues, engaging senior global communications staff as necessary.
* Act as counselor, and key resource for business unit issues and external events.
* Coordinate communications activities and share best practices internally.
* Manage Public Relations agencies (directly or indirectly) and manage related program budgets to implement comprehensive communications plans.
* Manage internal team members to ensure appropriate project management and cross-functional team engagement.
Necessary Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
* Eight+ years of experience in public relations/communications and working with business leaders.
* Ability to confidently direct and provide expert counsel to support the goals of the business.
* Ability to work successfully across teams and reporting structures in a heavily matrixed environment.
* Experience guiding earned (traditional) media, social media and global communications programs on behalf of large, global corporations or institutions.
* Ability to handle crisis communications, provide long term strategic communications counsel and deliver on short-term communications objectives.
* Demonstrated ability to work horizontally and be flexible as needed.
Preferred:
* Candidates who have a Masters or advanced degree, along with experience in infectious diseases, pharmaceuticals, or health care, is preferred.
* HIV experience is preferred; agency experience may also be relevant.
* Proven ability to articulate and direct a long-term strategic communications platform that builds and supports the business.
In addition, successful candidate will have:
* Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
* Exceptional budget management skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines and monitor and evaluate results is essential.
