Senior Data Analyst are critical to ensuring that our claim - based data reporting meets accuracy and timeliness requirements. You will be key to validating and evaluating the content of these submissions to improve processes, determine performance against benchmarks and to develop strategies and technology solutions for meeting more stringent data requirements. It will require you to be resourceful, adaptable, team oriented and with a flair for improvisation using technology solutions.
This position is accountable to the Regulatory Adherence Manager for performance reporting business operations related to Federal and State Medicare reporting. This role is tasked with gathering, validating and analyzing data prior to submission to Federal and State entities and entails developing tools to extract, analyze and comprehensively report information to internal business units, Federal and State agencies. The extracted data will be compared to quality and timeliness metrics and comprehensive tracking generated to support Key Performance Indicators, Scorecards and Dashboards.
The role requires a thorough understanding of quality assurance methodology and ability to test to rigid requirements. Validation and analysis tools to be developed include Microsoft SQL, Server, IBM DB2, CICS, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS Access and flat files; other tools needed will track production status and performance metrics.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Analyze submission guides to generate mapping into data sources
* Partner with teams to ensure processes and infrastructure support data collection
* Remediate gaps in existing production processes that do not deliver required source data or other content
* Ensure data integrity, data security and process optimization
* Coordinate data collection from suppliers and resolve data issues
* Create test plans, use cases and defect tracking tools to lead testing of claim related data extracts
* Develop, implement and automate data management tools to extract, filter, validate and analyze data using T-SQL, Excel, and Tableau (or equivalents)
* Verify data accuracy and ascertain regulatory compliance
* Drive automation and implement continuous improvements to create efficiencies in tools and processes
* Collaborate with business and technical teams to create conceptual designs for quality assurance validation tools and processes
* Expand upon existing and develop new quality assurance tools and methodologies
* Identify trends to determine causes and impacts to state and CMS requirements
* Produce metrics to assess performance against timeliness and quality benchmarks
* Prioritize own work to meet strict state and federal submission deadlines
* Work afterhours due to compressed timelines
* Meet non - negotiable regulatory deadlines

Required Qualifications:
* High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
* 3+ years of experience performing data analysis / reporting using T-SQL / PSQL / SQL or equivalent RDBMS tools
* 3+ experience with process improvement, business requirements development, workflow, benchmarking and evaluation of business processes
* 1+ years in a Quality Assurance role creating use cases, test plans and defect resolution
* 1+ years in a role implementing and utilizing Quality methodologies
* 1+ Experience creating and reviewing requirements and project related documentation
* Experience producing data visualization charts using Microsoft Excel, Tableau, QlikView, R, Matplotlib or equivalents applications
* Proficient with office - based software programs: Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel to produce filtered, qualified data to validate against requirements
* Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
* Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
* Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high - speed internet connection or leverage an existing high - speed internet service

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Business, Finance, Health Administration, Computer / Data Science, a related field or equivalent work experience
* 2+ years of experience creating data visualizations (Dashboards, Scorecards) with data housed in flat files and relational databases
* Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or equivalent
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification
* Experience reporting regulatory information for a healthcare or similar business

* Strong communication and project management skills with confidence in leading group discussions
