The basic function of a Lab Technician is to perform a variety of chemical testing of food products and/or ingredients.
Performs routine duties requiring minimal supervision which support the activities of Quality Assurance and Operations departments by the preparing and analyzing various samples; perform testing of various ingredients, preparations and maintenance of equipment;; perform special testing of samples to isolate and identify sources of problems in processing; log-in results of testing; operate a variety of lab equipment such as: blender, food processor, grinder, a variety of balances, oxygen meter, salt meter, sodium meter, pH meter, CEM/FOSS units or any other analytical testing equipment,; oversee general housekeeping and maintain program for and ensure Tyson Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures are followed; coordinate the lab wide effort to input data into the Tyson LIMS system; oversee perform other routine and/or non-routine nature as required by the FSQA Manager. Must function independently and follow procedures precisely and accurately; able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing; able to work with hazardous material / equipment safely; able to bend, stoop and lift up to twenty five ( 25) pounds.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelors degree in the sciences preferred.
Experience: Minimum two years experience in a food laboratory environment;
Computer Skills: Able to record data neatly, precisely and legibly; have ample computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and similar.
