The Underwriter reviews andevaluates title searches and insurance risk factors and must be able to justifyand communicate underwriting requirements to counsel for buyers, sellers andlenders on residential and commercial real estate transactions. The Underwriterassists the Senior Underwriter with various assignments as needed.
Job Roles:
* Evaluate insurance riskfactors and communicate underwriting requirements for real estate transactions
* Conduct legal research onnumerous issues including new legislative/regulatory changes
* Draft bulletins fordissemination to company underwriting personnel and agents
* Assists on reinsurance andagency issues, including revisions to agency agreements,
* May attend at VirtualUnderwriter Committee meetings and assistance to the committee and any otherassignments given by the Senior Underwriter or General Counsel
* Perform other duties assignedby management
Qualifications
Role Specific Knowledge
* Good verbal and writtencommunication skills
* Preferable experienceincludes title insurance background and/or experience in real estatetransactions
* Skills in LexisNexis andinternet legal research are helpful
Education, Licensure, andExperience:
* Completion of anundergraduate degree in Business Management
* Completion of an graduate degreein Law from an ABA accredited law school is a plus.
* Minimum of 4-6 years ofexperience in in real estate and title insurance which includes experience innegotiation.
Training:
Continuing education requiredof STGC employees and continuing legal education as required by the Local Barto maintain licensure.
Any additional trainingrequired by manager.
