Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Quick Reactions Capability (QRC) Support Center in Rolling Meadows, IL. The individual will provide engineering maintenance for fielded products, design components or portions of functional systems to support repair, provide product improvements and facilitate manufacturing / depot repair operations of contracted systems.

Responsibilities include:

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical assemblies and electro- mechanical products. Develops data packages, performs supporting analysis and makes preliminary layouts and technical notes necessary to present a design proposal.

* Applies analytical research to the planning, design, development, and verification testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
* Generate CAD models, layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures using SolidWorks tool set.
* Generate engineering change packages to support released documentation.
* Ensures engineering drawings and supporting technical documentation are complete and conform to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
* Identifies documentation design improvements, omissions, deficiencies and recommends revisions and/or improvements to responsible engineers or designers.
* Coordinate with organizations affected by design changes and engineering development projects.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 2-3 years rsquo; experience in a 3D mechanical design environment
* Demonstrated communication skills including technical writing and verbal communication.
* US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

* An Active DoD Secret Clearance
* Basic knowledge of technical data package requirements are preferred.
* Hands on mechanical experience; including mechanical technical skills, exposure to DoD experimental procedures and qualification, Non Destructive Testing techniques and materials sciences.
* Experience with Computer Aided Drafting tools. Generating Engineering drawings, using 3D based modeling tools to develop parts and create assemblies. (SolidWorks Certification)
* Finite Element Analysis application. (SolidWorks Simulation)
* Development experience using 3D Printer design amp; printer operation.
* Experience with Engineering Document Control methods and procedures.
