Program Overview

Each intern is presented a real business challenge within their group that provides the opportunity to exchange ideas with subject matter experts for optimal learning and development that leads to real solutions. At the end of the summer, our interns get together to showcase their awesome accomplishments during an event we call the Intern Expo. But we arent ALL business, throughout the summer our University Relations team hosts exclusive events such as featured executive lunch & learns, plant tours, personal & professional development sessions and intern socials.

Your Role

As a Safety Intern you will

* Assist Flooring North America R3 team projects throughout North Georgia Facilities to provide support and direction to the teams.
* Assist team facilitators in minor R3 templates questions via phone/email.
* Work with Home Division Safety Specialists to transition Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedures (JSA/SOPs) from current format to new Corporate template.
* Assist in offering safety to the Manufacturing Flooring Center (MFC)
* Inspecting the campus for safety related issues (inside the building and out)
* Ensuring the Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are in proper working order
* Daily inspections of the First Aid Cabinets
* Assist Safety Specialist in Incident Investigations
* Participate in the MFCs Emergency Response Team
* Intern will participate as a member of the ERT to gain understanding and knowledge of team responsibilities.
* Aid Home Division Safety Specialists with filing training documents as needed
* Assist other Safety Specialist within the Home Division with Safety Training Documentation filing
* Shadow aforementioned Safety Specialist within their facilities to conduct safety walk throughs and creation of action plans.
* Shadow Safety Specialists while they train Mohawks Corporate Authorized Training
* Assist in paperwork and preparation of the training classes to gain knowledge of Mohawks Safety programs (Acadia/Industry Safe/LMS)
* Assist sites with R3 PIT/PED processes and floor audits
* Collaborate with Safety Professionals and Safety leaders to drive sustainable safety improvements

Qualifications

* Enrolled in an accredited Bachelors/Masters degree program in Occupational Health and Safety
* Minimum 2.7 GPA
* Completed freshman year of courses
