Job Description
This position is responsible for shaping and leading the strategic direction and focus areas for Southern Powers Solar Operations & Maintenance Team to maximize SPCs solar fleet performance. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and leading a corporate team of engineers and analysts with performance management responsibilities.
Job Requirements
Education
* Engineering degree is preferred
* An MBA or advanced engineering degree is desired
Experience
* Minimum 8 years of combined experience in project management and/or power generation operations and maintenance, generation development, generation or system planning, asset management
* 2 years supervisory or similar leadership experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Must possess a broad range of industry experience with comprehensive knowledge of solar, wind, storage and/or fossil fuel power generation, power generation design, construction, and/or system planning
* Adept at interpreting operational data, assessing needs and implementing solutions that optimize the performance of SPCs solar fleet
* Working knowledge of and ability to negotiate and leverage contracts to achieve results
* Experiencing planning for and managing O&M and capital budgets
* Fosters an environment of continuous improvement and challenges the status quo
* Promotes an inclusive culture and naturally collaborates to leverage diversity and achieve optimal results as a team
* Effective communicator with internal and external audiences
* Exhibits pride in ownership, entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to make decisions with limited information
Major Responsibilities
* Provide leadership, strategic, and tactical direction for a team of engineers and analysts responsible for maximizing the solar fleet performance through direct support of SPCs O&M site teams and/or 3 rd party O&M providers
* Empower and develop teammates with meaningful, real-time guidance and accountability
* Ability to act quickly to address immediate, real-time issues as well as strategically consider long-term initiatives to optimize plant performance and maintenance
* Develop and implement guidelines or processes to minimize human error and/or a missed objective
* Manage partner relationships and satisfaction through frequent communication to maintain awareness
* Sustain strong working relationships across peer organizations within SPC with continued focus on collaboration with Generation Support
* Leverage networking and relationships with industry peers and OEMs to keep a pulse on market and promote relevance within organization
* Leverage technology to lead the development of tools, analytic visualizations, and other report automation
* Supporting due diligence of asset acquisitions and new development projects
The preferred location for this position is in Birmingham, AL. However, this position could potentially be located within alternate locations across our territory. Overnight travel is required to solar facilities located in various parts of the United States including, but not limited to California, Georgia, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and North Carolina.
