Job Description

We're looking for talented Data & Applied Scientists that have applied experience in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning to join our team.

We are a small team with big data: we are processing the worldwide data and observations on the Earth climate, and build machine learning models to generate insights and power delightful experiences for Microsoft customers.

Our data scientists work closely everyday with product managers, researchers and software engineers to solve complex problems and create next generation experiences for our customers. We partner and collaborate with universities and research institutions to bring best minds together. We leverage state-of-the art existing technology and keep abreast of the cutting edge of the worldwide research

As a Senior Data & Applied Scientist on our team, you are:

* passionate about working with extremely large and complex unstructured and structured data sets,
* developing end-to-end deep learning solutions using ONNX, TensorFlow or PyTorch, from the feature development to defining GPU-optimized network architecture, to setting up training regime (including distributed training), to packaging the model for real-time inference,
* coordinating with a team of data scientists, instilling good experimentation practices and prioritizing most promising ideas,
* keeping track of the relevant research and how we incorporate the findings in our work,
* mentoring colleagues, helping them learn and grow in the field of machine learning and data science.
* working with state-of-the-art weather/climate datasets focusing on data provenance, quality, traceability, and error propagation to serve the best weather experience for customers.
* designing and implementing robust metrics to surface insights on the performance, health, quality, and user experiences to drive weather products directions

Basic qualifications

* BS/MS degree in mathematics, scientific or information technology field of study (e.g., statistics, operations research, bioinformatics, economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry)
* Programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, C, C++, Java, and/or Scala.
* 3+ years of work experience in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning algorithms.
* 3+ years of work experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Octave, Julia, MATLAB, SciPy).

Desired qualifications

* Master's or Ph.D degree in a related discipline (computer science, mathematics, physics etc.)
* Experience or an education degree in atmospheric science, or a related field, is a great plus.
* 5+ years of work experience with AI or machine learning using open-source libraries, for example, Pandas, SciKit-Learn, PyTorch, etc.
* Experience in training machine learning models in a cloud computing environment such as: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, etc.
* Experience in building deep neural network models for computer vision, video processing or related areas, powered by GPU, in a distributed training environment.
