The Asset Management Division is comprised of Merchant Banking and Asset Management. These businesses engage with clients around the world including sovereign wealth funds, public and private pension funds, endowments, foundations, insurance companies and corporations, as well as third party financial intermediaries, to deliver our full suite of world-class solutions across liquidity, fixed income, equities and alternatives.

What We Do

Within the Asset Management Division, strategists (also known as Strats) play important roles in research, valuation, portfolio design and construction, surveillance and risk management analytics. A strategist will apply quantitative and analytical methods to come up with solutions that are accurate, robust and scalable.

GSAM Fixed Income is an investment team with a global suite of products that delivers fixed income portfolio solutions and manages assets for a broad range of clients such as pension funds, endowments, foundations, financial institutions, insurers and high net worth individuals. We focus on investing and advising clients across all sectors of the fixed income market, ranging from traditional investment grade products to more opportunistic/distressed investing.

Responsibilities

Strat team members will assume responsibility for the developed analytics, and are given ample opportunity to provide creative solutions and develop novel analytical methods. The daily interactions with other team members across geographies demands an ability to communicate clearly about complex financial, business, and mathematical concepts.

A strategist within GSAM Fixed Income will apply quantitative methods and industry knowledge to develop investment strategy and risk management analytics that will be used in managing portfolios in our GSAM Fixed Income business.

Basic Qualifications

* Outstanding background in a quantitative discipline (eg mathematics, physics or computer science at PhD or advanced Masters level)
* 6+ years of Programming expertise in a scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Matlab)
* Strong general and technical communication skills, with an ability to effectively articulate complex financial and mathematical concepts
* Creativity and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
