OVERVIEW

The Medallion Labs team is seeking a technologist to serve as the team leader for the weekend staffing of our gluten lab. The schedule for this role is four 10-hour days, including Saturday and Sunday testing. The primary responsibilities will be the sample preparation and gluten testing of cereal products, using an ELISA kit. This role requires the ability to take direction, and at times work autonomously, to support the daily needs within the Medallion Operations Organization.

This position requires significant attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. The applicant must be able to perform or learn minimal laboratory skills including: accurate weighing, pipetting, and quantitative transfer of solutions and samples; ability to work with care around hazardous compounds, preparation of solutions; calculation of results; evaluation of the quality of results; operation of common lab equipment; basic troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment. This position will involve daily laboratory testing of food products for one or more attributes. There will be opportunities for additional training on nutritional testing as time allows.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Facilitate analytical testing for Medallion in conjunction with other team members
* Provide support and flexibility related to the analysis of samples for Medallion Labs
* Document results and review data to maximize output and meet deadlines
* Investigate any technical discrepancies on a timely basis
* Develop a strong knowledge of the analytical methods being used to analyze samples.
* Meet Quality Assurance/Quality Control and ISO 17025 requirements
* Maintain a work environment that complies with General Mills and Medallion safety rules
* Assist in testing method development as business needs change

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* 0-3 Years of relevant work experience.
* Basic technical knowledge of analytical and food chemistry assay testing
* Minimal laboratory skills include: accurate weighing, pipetting, and quantitative transfer of solutions and samples; ability to work with care around hazardous compounds, preparation of solutions, calculation of results; evaluation of the quality of results; operation of common lab equipment; basic troubleshooting and maintenance of lab equipment
* Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, statistics, and document control
* Ability to manually calculate analytical test results
* Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people from technical, production, and other backgrounds
* Strong knowledge and background of analytical instrumentation
* Ability to coordinate multiple tasks effectively
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; PC skills: proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
* Works well with individuals and teams; displays a positive attitude
* Excellent judgment and problem-solving ability; flexibility and adaptability
* Available to flex work schedule when business need dictates to accommodate longer shift hours & Saturday/Sunday work
* Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize workload and maintain proper documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* 1 year of experience in a lab setting
* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or related science field preferred
