Job Description

light simulator technician role is to maintain and repair flight training devices in accordance with requirements and company standards. Flight simulator technicians will be working under the supervision of a lead technician or supervisor. Essential elements of the job include performing maintenance of flight simulation training devices (FSTDs) and flight control devices, operation, inspection, regular maintenance, design, modification, repair and testing. These technicians will also be working with software that runs modern flight simulators, and the associated electronic devices and classroom equipment.

Technicians in this position are subject to the terms and conditions of employment set forth in GDIT policy.

Responsibilities of flight simulator technicians include:
* Maintaining Training Devices to regulatory and company standards, ensuring that devices are ready for training use. Performing pre-flight tasks. Performing preventative maintenance functions. Conducing troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities on training devices. Performing training device updates (Software and Hardware).
* Ensuring documentation procedures are completed. Providing total customer support service, that can include accompanying customers through instructor station training and during dry training operations.
* Corrects identified discrepancies by troubleshooting electronics, computers, computer networks, visual, pneumatics, and mechanical systems to component level.
* Installs, replaces, cleans, repairs, and services various equipment including visual generation/display systems, computers, computer networks, motion systems, electronic circuit boards, and circuits to component level.
* Operates and maintains PC, and various other host and satellite computers and networks.
* Performs periodic maintenance and diagnostics on computer and peripheral equipment.
* Operates and maintains electronic test equipment.
* Accomplishes pre-flight, morning readiness, and certification checks.
* Accomplishes software archiving functions.
* Maintains a thorough knowledge of Aircraft systems and their operation.
* Practices safety conscious behaviors in all processes and procedures.
* Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and conducts routine inventory updates.
* Provides recommendations for replacing equipment, supplies and materials.
* Maintain current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
* Participate in technical training as necessary.

Qualifications:
* Associate's degree in technology field is required.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, technology, or simulation field preferred.
* Previous experience in simulation maintenance.
* Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 50 lbs.).

Skills and Attributes Preferred:
* Knowledge of simulation, technologies and applications.
* Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions.
* Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications.
* Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently
* Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion
* Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated and ability to work effectively in team environment.
* Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends on as needed basis.
* Excellent organizational skills
