What this job involves
Level I Pipefitting Technician in the Research Support Services Team of the Corporate Services organization within JLL on a Life Sciences account. This position supports the research community at the St. Louis area sites. As a member of the Team the position provides repair/maintenance and fabrication/installation of piping/plumbing distribution systems and devices utilized by the account research scientists and engineers in the areas of new product and process development.
The successful candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of taking direction from Technical Leads, self-manage their workload and communicate with clients regarding timing, cost, and other pertinent issues related to assigned tasks. The ability to install, startup, maintain, troubleshoot and repair piping/mechanical equipment and distribution systems used in laboratories and pilot plants in collaboration with the end-user is essential. All work must be in accordance with the National Plumbing and Mechanical Codes and all other applicable codes, standards and government regulations.

Required Skills:
An Associate Degree (AAS) or Certificate in Industrial Pipefitting or Industry recognized certifications in process piping controls, instrumentation, or facility maintenance. A minimum of four to six years practical experience in the areas of pipefitting, process control piping construction and maintenance required. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures related piping/plumbing of water, steam, and gas control devices and distribution systems. Basic understanding in the application of the National Plumbing and Mechanical Code requirements. Relies on limited experience and judgment as well as instruction and pre-established guidelines to plan and perform assigned tacks. Skill base must include: evaluation of work request, basic design, develop layout plans, fabrication, installation, testing, troubleshooting and repairs of piping, valves, regulators, fixtures, and other equipment related to piping distribution systems utilized in research laboratory applications. Able to take written and verbal instruction with a basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and flow diagrams. Ability to communicate with and make recommendations to researchers and engineers to determine best installation requirements. Knowledge of piping/plumbing parts and equipment and ability to communicate and purchase required stock from vendors. Prepare basic piping sketches and flow diagrams to indicate process sequencing and operations when necessary. Assists other crafts where needed in completing specific jobs with available resources. Knowledgeable in the proper use of all related power equipment and hand tools needed to safely perform assigned tasks. Experience in the areas of welding methods, pressure vessel and rupture disk/relief device testing beneficial.
