Description
Responsible for ensuring the safe operation of trains over a specifically challenging territory by overseeing the inspection, compliance, maintenance, safety, and repair of track. This position leads and manages the night activities for appropriate maintenance and inspection of track to meet the requirements of the FRA and UPRR standards. This position will cover all operations on the high speed rail lines between St. Louis MO and Joliet IL.
Supervise the repair and inspection of railroad track to ensure the safe movement of trains along the Union Pacific rail system.
Accountabilities
Inspect main line, yard and siding railroad tracks, switches and other facilities to ensure compliance with Union Pacific and Federal Railroad Association (FRA) standards
Supervise the repair of railroad track to restore safe movement of trains
Respond to emergency calls as necessary
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
Qualifications
Required
Ability to speak English in a clear, concise manner to communicate with coworker(s) and supervisor(s)
Valid driver's license
Ability to read and understand all instructions including operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents
Proficient verbal communication skills
Current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213.7 Parts A, B, and C qualifications
Able to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations
Preferred
3 years experience working in Railroad Maintenance of Way
1 year experience as a track foreman
