Job Description
Maintains and repairs buildings' plumbing, HVAC, air compressors, boilers, fire systems and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches and fuses. May test and chemically treat boilers, wells, chillers and hot water systems. Perform inspections of fire and safety controls and systems. Makes minor repairs to parking lots and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials and concrete. Repair or replace doors, building brick, stone and concrete. Oversee Custodial and/or landscape contractors while on premises.
Advanced knowledge of the functions and procedures to operate and maintain a centralized boiler and refrigeration plant. Ability to start, stop, regulate, troubleshoot, maintain, and perform complex repairs on the utility(ies) for optimum efficiency and safety. Knowledge of locations and functions, kind and quality of materials for repair of all system equipment. Requires a high level knowledge of shop mathematics. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and diagrams. Excellent knowledge and skill in general building maintenance and operation of building piping, systems and controls.
