We are currently searching for a Systems Engineer to join our Mission Platform Systems team. We are seeking individuals that have excellent technical and leadership qualities that will be utilized to support R&D; (Research and Design) programs around our tactical communication solutions. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of the program life cycle, utilizing sound systems engineering methodologies and applying them to our Mission Systems Platform solutions. Key responsibilities include requirements creation and management, familiarity with military standards with a basic level of expertise in performing integration and testing in both lab and field environments.
A successful candidate will perform all life cycle phases beginning with concept proposal through project planning, requirements capture, design, development, integration, test, install, support, and sustainment. Candidates will be expected to perform tasks of moderate complexity under guidance of more senior peers.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Authoring technical reports evaluating new technologies, capabilities, components, and concepts of operation.
* Interfacing with customers to conduct requirements and design reviews, host technical interchange meetings, and conduct acceptance test demonstrations.
* Decomposing customer statements of work into system, sub-system, and software requirements.
* Developing evaluation criteria and verification plans against system requirements.
* Creating system architectures and designs and presenting solutions to other members of the team.
* Installing new hardware in an integration and test environment that simulates the real-world system.
* Conducting verification and validation testing by working with Software Engineering to identify and correct defects.
* Performing on-site installation and acceptance testing at customer facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree OR
* In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
* Must be willing to travel. Typically, one to two trips per year, with a duration of one to four weeks per trip to destinations both domestic and international.
* Must be a US citizen
* Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Electrical, Software, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering; Physics; Mathematics; or similar
* Aptitude for big-picture thinking and creative problem solving.
* Comfort and confidence working both independently and as a member of a team.
* Comfort and confidence interfacing with customers and engineering leadership.
* Effective communicator in listening, comprehension, speaking, writing, and presentation.
* Ability to learn new domain concepts quickly and recognize common solutions to related problems.
* Knowledge of Systems Engineering concepts including life cycle models and risk management.
* Knowledge of computing fundamentals including computer architecture, operating systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures.
* Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
* Experience with requirements programs such as JAMA.
* Experience with issue tracking databases such as JIRA.
