We are building a new category of AWS Applications that will make customer-centric technology developed to support Amazon.com available to AWS customers. We will leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence and the large ecosystem of AWS services such as SageMaker, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon QuickSight to provide a truly frustration-free, easy-to-use, extensible, and natural customer experience. With this new category of services, we will transform business operations across industries. In our team you will have the unique opportunity to build an AWS service from the ground up. You will influence technical design and product direction and work across the stack from cloud-based services to web apps, collaborating with peer teams across Amazon.
Our team is growing quickly and were looking for a seasoned Senior Manager of Software Development, ideally with a decade or more of experience, to lead a group of engineers to drive design, architecture, and vision for our services. You will be responsible for managing an outstanding engineering team, making multi-year architectural decisions and lead R&D efforts to drive critical growth areas for the product. You will make data-driven decisions, prioritize and align roadmaps, and work with leadership across AWS to evangelize our products. Youll drive a culture that values operational excellence, security, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Senior Software Development Managers at Amazon are expected to quickly understand organizational and product goals while being able to map them to project deliverables. They must be able to divide tasks across a group and manage team execution. They are fully responsible for the day to day operations of the team and held to a high standard on the quality of product and the quality of ongoing support and maintenance provided to our customers. They must build effective teams, organizational structure and hire and develop the best talent to execute on their vision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience
9+ years of software development experience
6+ years of people management experience, including a minimum of 2+ years as a group engineering manager over a group of Software Development Manager(s)
Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment, including building large scale distributed systems
Experience designing and building customer facing products, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
