Job Description

Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) is looking for an RF Sensor and Scene Modeling Technologist to design and model novel engineering test environments.

RMD, a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civilian markets, seeking an experienced RF Sensor and Scene Modeling Fellow for the Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC). The Center employs the latest RF hardware systems engineering competencies within Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) and Computer-in-the-Loop (CIL) environments, to grow and sustain engineering test activities, making tests affordable, credible, agile and robust, delivering to our customers the highest quality with confidence in our products.

The successful candidate is responsible for leading and shaping the technology and model implementation of data streams representing the scene stimulus and output of RMD RF sensors. The selected candidate will lead technically diverse teams, providing oversight and task delegation, working with the Engineering organization establishing technology roadmaps and innovation vectors. The candidate may work with customer Government(s) personnel and programs, defining testing requirements ensuring compliant RMD designs. The candidate is responsible for providing guidance, coaching / mentoring and training to other employees across the business within area of expertise.

A model of excellence, the Engineering Fellow works across Product Lines and Business Units as critical needs dictate of the Enterprise. A Fellow will seek out and establish apprenticeships to enable a teaching culture. The successful candidate has demonstrated experience of RF design and modeling, using modern computing methods, validated by published papers and mentoring of apprentices.

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Requirements:
* Must be a US citizen
* Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
* Requires minimum of twelve (12) years' applicable experience focused on modeling, analysis, and test of applied RF systems and phenomena
* Experience and understanding of radars and simulations, to include target and radar modeling, hardware and software integration, and systems analysis
* Experience in RF digital signal progressing algorithms, advanced waveforms, antenna patterns, and techniques
* Experience with RF spectral and temporal effects for sensor and backgrounds, including clutter, multipath, self-interference, grounding and shielding, and mitigation factors
* Experience in modeling RF sensor output, either modulated waveforms or streams of digital samples used for real-time representation of RF scenes
* Experience presenting technical data to Stakeholders and Customer community, in design reviews and technical interchange meetings

Required Education:
* A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Math, Engineering, Science or related technical field.

* Technical leadership with capture/pursuit experience, including contribution or authoring of white papers, RFI responses, proposal of technical volumes, or related experience
* Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
* Patents, Papers and Publications in related technical field
* National recognition in industry
* Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment with positive interaction
* Demonstrated ability to put forth and drive technical execution plans
* Experience in RF HIL chambers, flight tables, and RF scene presentation hardware
* Integration experience with missile systems or ship/airborne platforms
* Understanding of complex threat environments and battlefields
* Experience and knowledge of advanced electronic attack methods and simulation
* Experience in multiple cooperative sensors scenarios, including multi-mode (EO + RF) systems
* Experience with advanced datalink techniques
* Understanding the nature and testing of Cyber vulnerabilities as applied to RF systems
* Proficiency with Python, MATLAB and other high level scientific programming languages
* Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools and frameworks, such as six degree of freedom simulations
* Broad knowledge of tactical missiles systems to understand system level requirements allocation and dependencies, as well as conduct trades studies at the test systems level
* Development and deployment of RF models at all stages of the missile product lifecycle, including early concept/trade studies, all-digital performance simulations, and real-time CIL and HIL systems
* Familiarity with assessing program level risks to performance objectives and developing mitigation activities
* Experience in integration with test equipment, telemetry data analysis tools, or radar systems and host platforms
* Active member of RF-related professional organizations
