The R&D; Systems Engineer in the Surgical Robotics Franchise is responsible for the system level design and integration of capital equipment products that consist of electrical and electro-mechanical subsystems. In this position you will own the requirements definition and systems integration of multiple products. The candidate will be a natural problem solver and will contribute to all aspects of the new product development process. You will provide technical leadership in systems integration, testing, verification and improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that the products meet IEC standards for medical devices.
* Contribute to electrical designs and requirements of complex capital equipment.
* Ensure systems design and documentation meet all safety and regulatory compliance.
* Collaborate across internal organizations and external partners as part of the multi-functional technical team.
* Develop detailed product requirements, engineering specifications, system architecture, detailed component specifications, verification and validation test protocols and reports.
* Integrate electronics subsystems and manage dependencies across the system.
* Manage Requirements and Tests with an emphasis on electrical systems integration
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related science/ engineering degree is required. Advanced Degree is preferred.
* A minimum of 5 years industry experience is required.
* Experience defining system requirements is required.
* Results-oriented skillset with the ability to work across organizational boundaries is required.
* Experience with Electrical Safety Standard such as IEC 60601 is preferred.
* Experience working with system-level tools and processes used for requirements management, risk management, or issue tracking is preferred.
* Experience as a systems engineer bringing capital equipment through the development lifecycle, from concept to release is preferred.
* Experience writing requirements documents and design specifications is an asset.
* Experience with capital equipment or medical devices is preferred.
* Strong electrical design and analysis skills, including an understanding of electrical systems and subsystems and how it interacts with the overall system design.
* Experience in R&D; delivering solutions with complex system components and architecture is preferred.
* Experience translating high-level customer needs into technical options and analyzing the tradeoffs and business impact is an asset.
* Ability to travel up to 25%, domestic and international, is required.
