Job Description

The Development Lead Engineer role requires sound technical knowledge and expertise related to Battery Electronics. You will need prior experience and/or knowledge of design, development, validation and release of automotive electrical/electronic components/software. Translates business objectives to impactful work for the work group. Supports leading new processes and methods in line with departmental goals.

Responsibilities:

* Lead software test bench, battery tester, hybrid test development and build.

* Develop battery electronics SW test script for the lab.

* Lead the develop, verify, and integration of hybrid and electric vehicle battery pack controllers software and diagnostics.

* Ensure robust software and technical diagnostics solutions are validated and released for each phase of the program.

* Lead software development and field failure root cause and solution development activities for the controller and battery system.

* Co-Lead or assist the battery or hybrid system failure analysis.

* Find opportunities for improved software and diagnostics execution and implementation as well as standard methodologies.

* Execute root cause and problem resolution of vehicle or component development or validation issues.

* Work with component Lead Release and Lead Software engineers to develop, execute and integrate Battery Electronics module diagnostics.

* Work with GM internal calibration team, software development team and supplier development teams in execution and leadership of Battery Controller Product Development Team (PDT).

* Identify and direct supplier and or GM employees to own the software verification, diagnostics and investigation. Review and work with Supplier to provide accurate equivalent reports.

* Work with the Battery Plant in root cause efforts of warranty parts.

* Work with Battery Plant on integration of End of Line Tests to ensure issued battery packs are identified before reaching vehicle plant.

* Meet program work and imperatives.

* Execute warranty reduction efforts on current product programs.

Additional Job Description

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

* 3+ years experience in design, development, validation and release of automotive electrical/electronic components.

* High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.

* Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of electronics.

* Experience in electrical analysis, circuit board design and development.

Desired Skills:

* Master's degree in Engineering.

* Experience with Hybrid Battery Electrical Components or Battery Controllers.

* Functional knowledge of vehicle and hybrid systems.

* Proven successful team leadership and collaboration with global technical development and multi-functional specialists.
