Buyer
Job Purpose:
Working independently, coordinates purchasing activities and processes purchase reqs in a timely manner. Using MRP and/or manual reqs, analyzes demand to determine need, sends out RFQ's for price and availability. Monitors supplier delivery. Negotiates price/volume/delivery dates. Processes RMA's. Expedites and reschedules as necessary to meet production requirements. Responsible for resolving AP/AR issues through analysis and investigation. May research alternative suppliers for obsolete or long lead time parts. Senior Buyers may manage implementation of engineering changes, interpretation of procurement policies, process improvement projects, contract negotiation and approval of PPV's. Previous exposure to FAR and DFARS requirements is desired, along with detailed analysis of cost. Supervisory experience is a plus. Proficient computer and communication skills are a requirement.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
* Issues Purchase Orders in a timely manner
* Negotiates for the best value for SCI
* Looks for process improvement opportunities
* Become knowledgeable of FAR and DFARS requirements
* Provide cost analysis as required
* Minimize unfavorable PPV
Education and Experience:
* Minimum of 8 years experience with a Bachelors degree
* Communication: Interface with all departments to ensure purchase order execution. Negotiate with Suppliers for best value.
* Customer Focus (may be internal or external): Sense of urgency for interdepartmental interface. Develop relationships both internal and external.
* Problem Solving: Use sound judgment to ensure decisions are made in the best interest of SCI
* Job specific skills: Ability to learn all SCI systems and develop an excellent working knowledge of FAR and DFARS requirements. Analytical ability to derive decisions from complex data.
* Leadership: Mentor other employees from an analytical and training aspect.
* Innovation: Continuous improvement is expected from a process standpoint.
* Organization/Project Management: Must be organized and ability to pay attention to details
