As an Engineering Manager of the Engine Performance and Integration section, candidate will be a functional manager reporting to the Flight Sciences Department of the South Bay Aircraft Design directorate in the Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector. As a manager, candidate will be responsible for the people, processes, tools, and technology to meet the current and future air-breathing propulsion engine performance, and integration design and analysis needs of unclassified and classified programs in Redondo Beach, California. Candidate will interface with government customers to define future study areas and report status on programs and technology development efforts. Candidate will manage and coordinate with suppliers for major engine OEM rsquo;s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and interface with their management and technical teams to define new business relationships and technology initiatives for both IRAD (Internal Research and Development) and CRAD (Contractual Research and Development) efforts. Candidate will support program activity and perform the functional management role concurrently.

Role and Functions:

middot; Manage a team of engineers within the functional homeroom, supporting people, processes, tools and technology.

middot; Provide leadership, mentorship, direction to team members

middot; Coordinate staffing with IPTs and support staffing processes, review resumes and conduct interviews.

middot; Establish and maintain processes, design manuals, and common tools for programs.

middot; Identify capital assets, indirect, and training budgets required for personnel to perform statements of work.

middot; Facilitate and promote improvement initiatives, and sharing of lessons learned and best practices between programs.

middot; Provide technical oversight across the sector, including independent reviews of major programs, support of proposal, and identification of technology needs.

middot; Administer Performance Management Process and salary review processes in conjunction with program IPT leaders and the Flight Sciences functional homeroom

middot; Support engineering technology studies to assess integrated engine, subsystem and aircraft performance

middot; Analyze aero-thermo models of propulsion systems, evaluate engine selections, engine cycle modeling and vehicle integration

middot; Evaluate inlet and exhaust performance, operability baselines

middot; Interface with customer, engine companies and other suppliers.

middot; Define requirements based on interactions with customer, program teams and propulsion system subcontractors

Qualifications - External

Basic Qualifications:

middot; Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with 7 years of experience in Aircraft Design amp; Analysis; or Master of Science degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with 5 years of experience in Aircraft Design amp; Analysis

middot; Experience analyzing the performance of installed air breathing propulsion systems on aircraft or missile systems

middot; Experience with aero-thermodynamic models of aircraft propulsion systems

middot; A working knowledge of internal aerodynamics and engine-airframe integration

middot; Engineering team leadership skills

middot; Active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

middot; 10 or more years of relevant experience in conducting military aircraft engine performance analysis and integration with the airframe

middot; Demonstrated experience interfacing with external customers and suppliers

middot; Working knowledge of propulsion inlet/exhaust design and airframe integration

middot; Ability to obtain SAP access
