The Testing Specialist is responsible for the quality testing of animals. This position will work with a variety of animal species. At all times, the technician must follow Standard Operating Procedures, adhere to all safety and company policies and perform duties assigned by department supervisor.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Conduct serial release for QC animal tests
* Complete clinical observations of animals
* Communicate animal health status with Veterinarian
* Complete scheduled treatments of animals
* Assist in animal surgeries, if necessary
* Complete necropsies of poultry
* Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures and/or Quality Control Procedures
* Complete supervisor project assignments in timely fashion
* Compliance with federal, state and site regulations and guidelines
* Assist in product investigations
* Capable of working in inclement conditions, including extreme heat and cold weather
* Must be willing to work some overtime on weekends and holidays

Education Minimum Requirement:

* High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Bachelor's degree preferred in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Biology, or equivalent

Required Experience and Skills:

* 1+ years of animal experience
* Basic husbandry skills
* Ability to preform physical work, i.e. lifting 50 pounds
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Able to demonstrate organizational skills and is self-motivated
* Ability to work independently and effectively with peers
* Able to maintain accurate and reliable record keeping
* Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
* Must have valid driver's license

Preferred Experience and Skills:

* American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Certification (ALAT, LAT or LATG)
* 1+ years of laboratory experience
