The Software Engineer 2 codes software applications based on business requirements. The Software Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer 2 standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software. Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes. Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

This position is for Enclara Pharmacia, a Humana company. Enclara, is a wholly owned hospice and palliative care pharmacy business. Enclara is the nations largest full-service pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) specifically for the hospice and palliative care sectors. Serving over 450 customers and nearly 100,000 patients nationally, Enclara works closely with hospices to reduce pharmacy costs, improve patient care and support caregivers through: digital innovations, flexible medication access, one-on-one clinical support, and excellent customer service.

Summary:

This position is responsible for analysis, coding, testing and documenting processes, routines, and applications from detailed specifications. This position is also responsible for participating in the preparation of specifications from which programs will be written. This will be onsite, in office, in Mount Pleasant, SC. Relocation is not available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Creates and/ or modifies programs to adapt to changes in needs and requirements, adhering to defined specifications and meeting timelines.
* Expected to handle assignments with increased complexity and scope.
* Read, understand, and troubleshoot coded computer instructions and how that translates into data.
* Review, test and validate coded program routines and data making revisions and eliminating errors in processing
* Assist in gathering, documenting, and refining business, data, and system specifications from business users and translate to database developers and analyst.
* Develop a basic understanding of systems and technology used within the company.
* Develop a basic understanding of the content of policies written by the company.
* Develop a basic understanding of the pharmacy industry and the organizational relationships of the company.

Required Experience:

Qualifications:

* The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starting.
* The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
* Experience working in a Healthcare company is desirable.

Education and/or Experience:

* AA/AS degree (+ relevant experience) or BS/BA degree in a technical area of study.
* Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
* 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Computer Skills:

* Experience with and knowledge of presentation and public speaking skills.
* Demonstrated ability/willingness/eagerness to learn new technologies
* Demonstrated openness for learning, growth, coaching by peers and more senior level teammates
* General knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Demonstrated ability to do effective problem-solving and troubleshooting
* Perform tasks within predefined guidelines and procedures as assigned by manager or project team.

Desired Skills:

* Knowledge of/Familiarity with Visual Studio, C, ASP.NET, Transact SQL and other programming languages.
* Knowledge of/Familiarity with web services, SQL Server, and other Microsoft technologies a plus.
* Knowledge of/Familiarity with Web.API, REST services, JSON, XML, and HL7 is a plus.
