Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the design and the integrity of the customer's complex internal network including customer-facing hosted and cloud environments. They will provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking request. They will also secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs. This role will be responsible for designing, implementation and testing complex infrastructure in support of our customer needs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
10-12 years of related networking engineering experience
Familiarity with the following or equivalent tool suites: Puppet, Splunk, F5, Xymon, VCenter
Proficient with Bash and secondary scripting language
Demonstrated knowledge of using an IT automation suite to implement business solutions.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Experience with WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security practices
Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
Remote access solution support: VPN Terminal Services, and Citrix
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform network assessments and security audits
Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
Work with infrastructure engineers to identify new products and solutions
Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
Communication with customers are required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
Be available for other engineers and coach them to resolution
Familiarity with: VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, LVAN, Deployments
