Job Description

Seeking candidates to support the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Under the I2TS 3 task order, INSCOM ensures reliable, uninterrupted availability of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) including: networks, hardware, software, engineering, and specialized tools at the point of customer need to support INSCOM's mission. INSCOM and its MSCs provide the enabling layer to connect the Army and its tactical formations to defense and national intelligence agencies via tactical networks. The ability to provide mission critical intelligence is dependent on the successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.

GDIT is looking for a Unix/Linux/Solaris administrator supporting the Multi-Media Manager Service (Boeing M3). Candidates should have solid UNIX admin background as well as knowledge of secure messaging services.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

An I2TS 3 UNIX Systems Administrator will:
* Provide system administration support for Linux/Solaris operating systems including install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from monitoring tools.

* Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on servers, including system failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.

* In-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision.

* Responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems; review daily logs and ensure successful completion.

* Perform incremental and full cold backups/patching.

* Setup backup' for Linux and Oracle databases.

* Responsible for and have experience to perform DoD Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

* Provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage and network uptime for the Linux Servers.

* Provide general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers and coordinate with data center personnel to execute. Document and generate business processes for day-to-day and emergency support procedures.

* Install, test and verify Oracle Linux Security patches; coordinating, documenting requirements and timelines, and working closely with Oracle database administrators.

* Perform systems security administration functions, including creation and maintenance of customer profiles and accounts.

* Responsible for creating and/or maintaining standard operating procedures for the Linux documentation library.

* Answer and resolve trouble calls related to M3 application, servers, and communications.

* Provide engineering, analytical, administration, and deployment services as part of the existing Enterprise M3 messaging support requirements; maintain the current messaging O&M environments to include any additional enclaves or products that may come online in support of M3 initiatives. Scope includes planning, documentation, O&M, ticket management, analytical support, and deployment of related equipment and continuing to issue and improve related standards.

* Support the analysis, design, and implementation of Virtualization

* Perform capacity planning to assist in forecasting storage growth and maintain service quality

* Install servers, associated peripherals, and software products

* Troubleshoot/resolve problems with message flow

Desirable Skills / Experience:
* Experience managing legacy Linux servers and cloud resources

* Highly versed in Linux administration and best practices

* Familiar with enterprise network architectures

* Experience with automated configuration management (Puppet, Chef, etc.)

* Familiar in programming/scripting skills for automation - Bash, Ruby, Python, Perl, etc..

* General understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.)

* General understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, FTP, NFS, etc.)

Education Required:
* High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of related experience, or Associate's Degree with 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience

Certification(s):
* DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract

* Required Security Environment Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent

* Computing Environment certification: Red Hat Certified System Admin (RHCSA) or equivalent

Security Clearance:
* TS/SCI required

Additional:
* Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
