Facebook Reality Labs focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom silicon. Facebook Silicon team is driving the state of the art forward with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. Our chips will enable AR & VR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistor, through architecture, firmware, and algorithms. This position is in Facebook Reality Labs Prototyping team. The word proto' means original, primitive, first, anterior, relating to a precursor and so does this role. Our team is working closely with the best AR algorithm engineers to create first of its kind silicon to enable compelling user experiences. The only way we can build the right thing, is to quickly iterate on non-form-factor implementations to test our ideas long before silicon is available.

Prototyping Validation Engineer Intern Responsibilities

* Work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, debug and test SoC design

* Help the team to develop tools, flows, and methodologies for different aspects of design and pre-silicon validation

* Develop and support unique Facebook SoC needs

Minimum Qualifications

* Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or related field

* Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

* Experience in C/C++ and Verilog coding

* Skills with scripting (shell, python) and automation

* Understand hardware architectures and software development process

Preferred Qualifications

* Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

* Coursework in digital design and programming

* Experience with FPGA and verification
