Job Summary

The Senior Strategist performs short and long-term strategy development, analysis, and planning for the business unit which may include but not be limited to five-year strategic plans, long-term integrated resource plans, operational plans, and environmental strategy by working with cross- functional groups across the business unit and Company. Prepares and, at times, delivers key presentations to the leadership team. This position provides administration and analysis of benchmarking research, business unit performance reporting and business plan deployment. In providing these services, this position works closely with senior management and other areas of the Company. Span of control: this is an individual contributor job.

Key Accountabilities

* Leads and provides support in developing the annual strategy presentation for the Company's Senior Management and Board of Directors.
* Analyzes the strategic, operating and financial impacts of internal business proposals or external regulatory / legislative proposals. Develops recommendations and associated business cases in response to these proposals.
* Develops detailed financial models to support the long-term planning process as well as business cases for major projects/investments.
* Leads cross-functional teams to investigate, analyzes and make recommendations to Senior Management on current strategic or operational issues.
* Provides leadership, analytical and financial skills to the business units.
* Leads and facilitates the strategy update process, development of organizational scorecards and creation of the business units' annual operating plans.
* Serves as an internal consultant to business units, as required to support the overall strategy.
* Acts as liaison for various corporate initiatives including strategic planning, human resources, communication and regulatory initiatives.
* Researches and prepares internal and external communications for Senior Management.
* Leads lean/six-sigma projects to drive business improvements in the business unit.
* Uses continuous improvement tools to identify defects and improve processes.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

* Bachelor's degree and 5 years of job-relevant experience, inclusive of professional level business functions exhibiting a progressive work history.

Other Qualifications

Preferred

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or any related degree or Master's degree.
* Prior experience working in Supply Chain Management.

Other Qualifications

* Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicate clearly, with credibility and confidence.
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.), databases and data analysis.
* Ability to summarize data effectively using Power BI, pivot tables (and other tools) and provide appropriate summaries in response to common business questions
* Experience with cost and performance metrics; especially interpretation, trending and writing high level performance commentary
* Analytic and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations
* Ability to develop and coordinate cross functional work groups and projects, yielding optimal outcomes
* Strong project and time management skills
* Ability to work with shifting priorities and embrace new or evolving responsibilities.
* Demonstrate and deliver service excellence (i.e. Service Keys: Safe, Caring, Dependable and Efficient).

There is more gas storage capacity in Michigan than in any other state. Founded in 1849, DTE Gas is one of the nation's largest natural gas utilities.
