POSITION TITLE: Welder I
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
FLSA STATUS: Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY
Lays out, fits, and welds fabricate cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, shelving, etc. by performing the following duties.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
* Lay out positions, aligns, and fits components together.
* Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
* Checks the quality of work of lower-level welders.
* Measures and cuts components according to specifications.
* Sets up, assembles, and welds aluminum inside template using welding machines such as arc and cobramatic welders.
* Cuts aluminum or plastic into various lengths according to a work order.
* May use various tools such as radio saw and minder saw.
* Deburr aluminum using an electric sander.
* Shapes edges of aluminum according to work order specifications using a punching press.
* Punches holes on or aluminum according to specification on work.
* Ensures work area is maintained in an orderly and safe manner per company procedures.
* Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Must be able to understand and carry out directions communicated in the first language.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, including decimals and fractions.
* Uses adjustable measuring instruments where interpretation is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Up to and including 6 months' experience.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
* The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform assigned duties.
* The employee must frequently lift, pull, push and/or move up to 50 pounds.
