Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with real or potential life threatening illnesses in support of and in collaboration with care directed by the medical staff. Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients regarding our programs for the reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Actively engages in all initiatives to improve patient satisfaction results. Accountable for the smooth, effective and efficient functioning of the unit during the assigned shift with minimal direction from the department. Supervises and instructs departments nursing personnel for assigned shift.
II. JOB SUMMARY:
Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with real or potential life threatening illnesses in support of and in collaboration with care directed by the medical staff. Interacts and collaborates with staff, physicians, and patients regarding our programs for the reduction of Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Actively engages in all initiatives to improve patient satisfaction results. Accountable for the smooth, effective and efficient functioning of the unit during the assigned shift with minimal direction from the department. Supervises and instructs departments nursing personnel for assigned shift. Ensures that the departments nursing staff complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and that age/developmentally appropriate care is given in accordance with unit standards. Collaborates with other disciplines in order to facilitate patient care. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during treatments and examinations of patients. Assists and provides input to department head regarding staff performance issues/needs, and employee schedules. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by director or nursing supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
* Minimum Education: Associate/Diploma/Bachelors degree in nursing.
* Required Education: Completion of the hospitals Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) within one year.
* Preferred Experience: One year adult critical care nursing experience and some management/supervisory experience.
* Required Licensure/Registration/Certification: Current Florida RN license: BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
* Preferred Registration/Certification: CCRN
* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in performing physical assessments and critical thinking tasks. Demonstrated leadership and time management skills. Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition. Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language. Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment
