As the PIC Inventory Manager you will provide inventory recommendations that manage customer service and optimize dealer inventory investment levels for dealers live on Parts Inventory Collaboration, (PIC) through a staff of support leads and technical experts. They will have responsibility of administering and monitoring all mechanical IM processes (e.g. Forecasting, Materials Ordering, Inventory Control, Service Analysis, etc.), dealer data interfaces from the dealers ERP to Caterpillar, and warehouse exposures with both the dealership and Caterpillar, across Caterpillar dealers in the associated region live on PIC and manage the relationships with PIC dealers. This role also works very closely and helps manages the relationships with our Caterpillar partners within the Verticals and the DSD organization to ensure we are properly aligned and assess good business decisions amongst the enterprise.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
PIC Inventory Manager is a more senior level IM Supervisor which typically requires more experience, meaning they have more strategic programs they are working on with the dealers and play a more critical role in the management of dealer inventory. Typically the roles reporting to this manager would include Team Leads, Supply Chain Engineers, Senior Inventory Analysts, Distribution Logistics Analysts, Research Analysts, Data Scientists, and Distribution Consultants. The position often confronts complex issues or problems which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. Many of these require major projects/initiatives to drive change amongst the multiple Divisions. The PIC Inventory Manager may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. They will then establish and monitor general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure management goals are met and desired results are achieved
* Achieving Parts Availability targets to customers while optimizing inventory investment required by dealers and reducing the overall costs of operations and emergency orders.
* Evaluating how the teams recommendations affect the overall supply chain within the Caterpillar Network.
* Evaluating Dealer Conformance, Order Acceptance, Need by Date usage, Inventory Turns, Emergency Purchases, and Customer Centric Parts Availability are a few KPIs to ensure quality results
* Ensuring all 7 dealer interfaces are being received from our dealers in order to plan their inventory properly as well as sending the data back to the dealers ERP to process the orders correctly.
* Provide leadership for staff collaborating with dealers in the region live on Parts Inventory Collaboration.
* Providing guidance to IM analysts on PIC-specific objectives related to parts support, inventory levels, service to customers, parts growth initiatives, inventory turns, KPIs, etc.
* Leading dealer escalation processes through the district and running workshops with specific dealers when escalation processes are needed.
* Responsible for ensuring all reporting mechanisms are in place to report throughout the leadership organization on the overall PIC metrics and the program results.
* Provide service parts inventory recommendations in region to achieve high levels of service parts availability, which directly impacts dealer and end customer satisfaction with Caterpillar product support.
* Provide forecasting of materials requirements and provide inventory recommendations to dealers as well as material movements throughout the dealer network.
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree
* 10 + years Supply Chain related experience
* 3+ years knowledge and experience with our Caterpillar Dealer Network
* Demonstrated experience working in MS Office
* Previous Leadership experience
* Broad knowledge of company products and policies, organizational units, marketing philosophy, dealer operations and strategic direction
* Has demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate concepts using data visualization
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
* 8+ years of professional experience within the inventory management space
* 2+ years experience as a Supervisor/Manager
* 5+ years experience with Caterpillar, exposure to different divisions, processes or systems is desirable
* Has demonstrated excellent teamwork, initiative, and interpersonal skills
* Has demonstrated the ability to communicate effective verbally and electronically
* Knowledge of Parts Inventory Collaboration (PIC), Parts Excellence, and related functions
* Experience not only interacting directly with dealers, but with external customers
