As a System Administrator within PNC's Mainframe Storage organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, Cleveland or a remote location.

Job Description

* Installs, configures, and maintains the organization's mainframe or mid-frame operating systems.
* Installs, configures, upgrades and maintains workstations and servers. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating systems hardware and software configuration database/library.
* Installs and upgrades new software systems; reports and recommends resolutions to networking and operating system problems.
* Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configurations to ensure data integrity.
* Monitors and fine-tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Conducts standard hardware and software audits.

Configuration Management Knowledge of and ability to manage the process, tools and techniques for managing hardware, software, communications, facilities and personnel that provide the organization's IT services.

Hardware Infrastructure Knowledge of and the ability to design, implement and integrate IT hardware for its use in business environments.

IT Quality Assurance Knowledge of and the ability to utilize a variety of specific technical tools and testing methods to ensure the quality of IT production.

Software Installation and Support Knowledge of and ability to plan and execute software platform changes with minimal service disruption to the client.

System and Technology Integration Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems, and the ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Systems Software Infrastructure Knowledge of software technology, and the ability to plan global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

System Testing Knowledge of and the ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.

System Testing Tools Knowledge of and the ability to use tools and techniques for automating, simplifying and enhancing system testing.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require an Associates or equivalent degree as well as related experience or product knowledge to accomplish primary duties. Typically requires 4+ years of related business or functional experience. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
