Role Summary

Manages an assigned book of business mainly working on National Account clients with over 5000 employees, focused on attaining profitable growth, persistency, and earnings. Also underwrites large presale quote opportunities from the same size cases for a specified geographic region.

Performs case-specific risk assessments. Responsible for account level rate development and conducting customer negotiations with other underwriting areas and Sales on intermediate complexity book of business. Evaluates claim experience and analyzes total case profitability. Develops and monitors account earning plans to achieve growth and profitability. Develops strategic recommendations related to market competition, product development, and market pricing decisions. Assists Sales with customer presentations and acts as financial consultant on case-specific issues. Collaborates with product/pricing matrix partners to provide input on market level product and pricing needs. Mentors new hires and/or underwriters in training. Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Thorough understanding of manual rating models and related pricing tools. Thorough knowledge of pricing adjustments and available plan designs. Thorough understanding of logic and concepts of Experience Rating to develop claim costs. Ability to assess financial risk based on multiple information sources. Manages intermediate complexity accounts: all sizes of eligible lives, slice or exclusive, multiple markets/products offered.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required with at least 5 years prior experience in a similar role.
Thorough understanding of manual rating models and related pricing tools.
Thorough knowledge of pricing adjustments and available plan designs.
Thorough understanding of logic and concepts of Experience Rating to develop claim costs.
Ability to assess financial risk based on multiple information sources.
