Microsoft's hardware teams incubate advanced technologies and build deep partnerships with internal research, product planning, business and marketing teams. Microsoft ships tens of millions of hardware products every year, including the Xbox, Surface devices, HoloLens, accessories, and much more. The Silicon computing development team is seeking passionate, driven and intellectually curious engineers to join our SoC design team covering RTL to GDS work, design automation, and design quality for our projects. This new team will be involved in numerous projects within Microsoft developing custom silicon for a diverse set of systems. We are responsible for delivering cutting-edge, custom SoC designs that can perform complex and high-performance functions in the most efficient manner. In this high impact role on the team, you will be responsible to:

* In charge of managing the front-end tool infrastructure and methodologies for RTL and Validation tools. This includes - configuring the frontend tool for execution usage, managing the front-end methodology and driving certain front-end execution activities. Script automation necessary to streamline execution.
* Influence overall direction of front-end design methodology infrastructure needs, RTL handoff to implementation needs using most advanced solutions in industry.
* Have close interaction with all design partners and vendors to help drive and resolve tool and flow needs necessary at various stages of execution.
* Drive and oversee the release process of the tools/flows and collateral.
* Responsible for central runs of various signoff activities.
* Accurately plan out and clearly communicate block schedules and risks through different project phases.
* Provide technical leadership and collaborate across teams to come up with the best solution possible with a One Microsoft mindset.

Requirements:

* BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
* 8+ years of experience working in front-end domain for digital designs.
* Experience with frontend digital design tools and flows
* 5+ years of experience working using scripting languages such as Perl, TCL, Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Great communication, collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams.
* Proven track record of managing tool and flow infrastructure in digital design implementation for FrontEnd tools.
* Strong understanding of compute requirements and management needed for digital design.
* Ability to build mature indicators and deploy them to manage compute, storage and design services.
* Strong fundamentals in VLSI design - Verilog, Netlist, Layout.
* Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
* Project management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
