Job Summary: Facilitates hospital infection prevention and control activities with the primary goal of reducing risk of nosocomial infections. Infection prevention and control activities include perform continued collection, review, and analysis of nosocomial infection data; conduct benchmarking analysis of nosocomial infection data, prevention procedures,policies, and initiatives with national standards and best practices; identify improvement opportunities, provide recommendations to clinical areas, and facilitate implementation of best practices across the hospital; provide patients/staff with relevant and current infection prevention education.

Required Education: BS in Nursing, Medical Technology or Microbiology

Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology or related field

Required License: For RN, North Carolina Registered Nurse

Preferred License: Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) or within 2 years of hire.

Required Experience: Minimum two years experience performing clinical duties in a hospital setting. Demonstrated ability to facilitate process improvement initiatives for decreasing nosocomial infection. Must have expertise and interpreting and managing data, creating reports, documentation and project management skills. Established communication skills both verbal and written along with skills as a facilitator, educator, and presenter. Demonstrated computer literacy Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience: One year experience in an infection prevention or epidemiology position
