What you will be doing
Patient Services Representatives play a crucial role in providing patients access to the medications and therapies they need. Providers and patients count on our Patient Services Representatives to work with payers and pharmacies to research and gather information about a patients insurance policy, helping patients navigate any challenges they face accessing medication. Their work helps make therapy more affordable and provides patients quicker access to treatment.
As a Patient Services Representative a typical day might include the following:
* Inbound phone queue, completing enrollment activities, answering basic inquiries, coordinating access to therapies.
* Pharmacy triage and coordination.
* Order processing for wholesale orders.
* Researching and resolving any claim denials or underpayment of claims.
* Assisting patients and providers with completing and submitting all necessary documentation for reimbursement program applications (Copay, Patient Assistance Program, Medicaid, etc.).
* Reporting any reimbursement trends/delays (such as: billing denials, claim denials, pricing errors, payments, etc.).
* Works with patient, provider or internal shared services to ensure all necessary documentation is received and complete in accordance with program policy.
* Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors.
* Exercises judgment within defined standard operating procedures to determine appropriate action.
What your background should look like (minimum qualifications)
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Requires a minimum of three (3) years directly related and progressively responsible experience in customer service, medical billing and coding, benefits verification, healthcare, business administration or similar vocations.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
* A bachelors degree is preferred.
* Strong customer service experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
* Ability to build productive internal and external working relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Basic analytical skills.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
* Developing professional expertise; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
