Description

The Director of Strategic Positioning is the primary writer and facilitator for all documents associated with the RFP process, including crafting sales proposal documents and presentations for the Correction line of business. This includes managing the strategic and tactical elements of the writing process, managing multiple customer writing opportunities including proposals and presentation materials, and staying current with industry strategic objectives and trends. This proposal writer will be an integral part of the sales team, assisting in the proposal and presentation development; document, content strategy, design, layout, and final delivery. He/she will gain a detailed understanding of the customer from sales and/or operations leadership, and the RADAR strategic selling process. This includes, identification of buying influences, win-results, needs, gaps, and strategic goals, and integrates the proposal strategy to address those needs into a sophisticated and comprehensive proposal.

The Director of Strategic Positioning will maintain ongoing updates of proposal boilerplates within each support area (i.e., human resources, training, information technology, marketing, and consumer engagement). In addition, the Director of Strategic Positioning will work with a wide range of internal employees at all levels to support the proposal and presentation process. In addition, he/she will ensure quality assurance for all documents and materials. Ensure corporate identity compliance, high-quality photographs, and accurate content. Maintain quality throughout draft, editorial, and production phases. He/she must be able to handle deadline pressures and multiple assignments. The ideal candidate will take a leadership role in: proactively creating and maintaining timelines, updating team on progression and proactively following up on adherence to timelines, and performing work within specified response and turnaround times.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Work to establish a strategic plan in alignment with the Director of Business Development with specific timelines for the team. This also includes Identifying the need for custom solutions.
* Conducts research and interviews with the team to incorporate all relevant information into the proposal. This also includes writing, editing, and proof reading for all assigned proposals.
* Clearly positioning, in all written communications, our value proposition to our clients.
* Plans and implements the editorial capability required for the proposal tasks
* Ensures logical relationships of text, art, and graphics.
* Verifies that organization, format and final layout are in compliance with the RFP
* Participates in production of all documents as needed.
* Creates, captures, and maintains reusable content, such as the proposal template and Frequently Asked Questions.
* Maintains knowledge of proposal positioning boilerplate, contacts, process, and materials.
* Supports development of technical and management white papers.
* Reviews content on a regular basis for currency
* Coordinates proposals and marketing requests with the Proposal Center to insure consistency and message.



Qualifications

The Director of Strategic Positioning must have a minimum of five years of professional experience as a writer and editor with excellent skills in grammar, editing, and proofreading. He/she will have the ability to write clearly, creatively, and persuasively. The ideal candidate will have experience in research and writing, both independently and in collaboration with others. In particular, he/she must have the ability to interpret and organize complex information, creating a story for each proposal. An extensive track record of success with complex multi-million dollar proposals is preferred.

Other qualifications include:

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, while working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
* Strong leadership skills, strategic acumen, problem solving skills and the vision necessary to help develop unique solutions for a variety of clients.
* Customer orientation and client relationship management are required, including the ability to communicate and work with a broad range of business colleagues and constituents.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information is required.



The Director of Strategic Positioning should be a strategic thinker with strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills. He/she will have the ability to effectively manage others through influence rather than formal authority.

Education:

The successful candidate will possess a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. A MBA or an equivalent degree from a leading institution is preferred.
