The Network Solutions & Operations team (NSO) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and manage. The NSO team is driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to modernize the Network and create innovative products, services, and capabilities for the whole Enterprise that will anticipate the needs of customers by enabling more types of payments.
Director, Data Capabilities will play a critical role in the network transformation journey. H/She will drive the strategy, roadmap and delivery of Network Transaction repository, the system of record for all network data along with data distribution to other systems. Partner with other product groups to envision and deliver data capabilities to build/enhance network products, optimizing monetization opportunities and protecting Amexs value proposition. As a leader of a delivery team, plan and deliver PI ( program increment) commitments meeting/exceeding scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives.
This role is an exciting opportunity to establish and lead a team and drive a critical, high-priority objective for AXP.
The Director will:
* Lead, mentor and build a high performing and highly engaged team of product managers, product owners and analysts to build roadmap, envision capabilities and deliver prioritized features
* Collaborate with Engineering teams to deliver high availability, high performance data platform including data ingestion and distribution framework
* Collaborate with product groups to identify and build business use-cases to leverage Network data and capabilities to build and enhance network products. Eg : Debit, B2B, Direct to Bank
* Help define OKRs (Objectives,Key Results) , collaborate with delivery teams in PI planning, resource capacity planning , prioritization of features based on the roadmap
* Monitor delivery performance and make necessary adjustments during PI iteration to ensure delivery commitment with quality
* Bring external perspective to drive innovation in data capabilities and continuous improvement in the delivery process to deliver at speed and quality
Minimum Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in driving product development and management in a cross-functional and global environment.
* Masters or Bachelors in applied mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
* Leadership experience in leading/creating high performing teams with diverse skills.
* Intellectual curiosity: High-intellectual curiosity, out-of-the-box, strategic risk-taking, creative & critical thinker with experience in complex problem solving.
* Experience in the delivery of high performance and high availability data platform with relational as well as NoSQL datastores. Experience working with Cassandra, couchbase preferred
* Passion for payments and innovation: Passion to drive delivery in a fast-moving and innovative environment. Deep knowledge of payments industry and disruptive technologies.
* Experience in Agile Scrum methodology or the Software Delivery Life Cycle.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners to drive collaboration and alignment.
* Transformation spirit: Track record for change management and delivery in complex and matrixed organizations. Result-oriented and familiar with changes, willing to challenge the status quo to effectively compete and differentiate in a rapidly changing environment.
* Great attitude: High energy, an optimistic attitude, and a good sense of humor
* Highly collaborative: Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
