Savannah River Remediation is seeking a Process Controls Engineer (Senior Engineer III or Principal Engineer) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.
The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for process control system performance and technical assurance for assigned areas and projects. They enable operations to efficiently and safely control operating units using the process control system tools and equipment including field instrumentation, Distributed Control System (DCS) hardware, Industrial Control System (ICS) support systems, Software/Coding and Configuration Management. Works with and utilizes the multiple work processes in support of Operations, and in accordance with Engineering standards.
Lead project teams with technical analysis, design, integration, and implementation issues throughout the project life-cycle.
Develop and implement project schedules while identifying key project milestones.
Define work scopes and lead efforts to implement activities.
Lead and document technical troubleshooting and corrective measure implementation
Design development / review for modifications to process control systems.
Configure, implement, and test software process control system design modifications.
Champion LEAN and Engineering initiatives to develop innovative solutions for process control strategies and standards to improve operational productivity and efficiency.
Become a change agent for improved processes, technologies, and innovation.
Develop and implement process control strategies and standards to improve operational productivity and efficiency.
Maintain and update documentation on all system software changes and process updates.
Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation for the process control systems
Provide technical presentations highlighting key activities, new technologies, and / or process improvement plans
Ensure system hardware, software and related procedures adhere to organizational procedures and approved configuration baselines
Provide input and technical review of software requirements specifications, software design documents and code reviews
Provide system health and legacy system monitoring
Work effectively in teams as well as independently
Technical expert to the facility and mentors / coaches less experienced engineers.
Plays active role in development / execution of programmatic improvements.

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for hire at the Senior Engineer III Process Controls Engineer Level:
Bachelor’s degree, in a technical major such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited university and 6+ years related technical/engineering experience; or
Master’s degree, in a technical major such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited university and 4+ years related technical/engineering experience
Process control system and instrumentation experience
Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must be a US Citizen.
To qualify for hire at the Principal Process Controls Engineer Level:
Bachelor’s degree, in a technical major such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited university and 8+ years related technical/engineering experience; or
Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must be a US Citizen.
Any candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DeltaV DCS as an Application Programmer, System Administrator and/or System Engineer.
Experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and/or Modicon Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
Knowledge of field instrumentation and interfacing to process control systems via Bus I/O or conventional I/O.
Knowledge of wireless equipment, interfaces, and standards.
Experience in requirements gathering, design, configuration, integration, implementation, and testing of process control solutions.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Able to communicate in a clear and professional manner with various levels of employees to explain technical details to a non-technical person.
